The legal system is designed to provide a way to resolve disputes without resort to violence and a way to compensate victims for injuries. It has grown into a complex set of rules and procedures that are very costly to navigate.

While our attorneys love to try cases, we encourage all our clients to resolve as many issues as possible outside the courtroom.

What is mediation?

  • A trained neutral person meets with the parties to assist them in finding ways to resolve their disputes.
  • You do not have to agree to anything in mediation, but if you do, your agreement will be binding.

Why mediate?

  • All divorce cases must now be mediated before a courtroom trial is allowed.
  • Mediation saves thousands of dollars.
  • Your mediated agreement will likely be much more fine-tuned to your needs than a judge’s order.
  • If you reach an agreement, your ability thereafter to get along with your adversary is greatly enhanced. This is of huge benefit in matters involving children or business.

Wanda G. Sobieski is specially trained as a mediator and serves pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 31.
